Gun Safety Tips

March 29, 2021 · Katy · Leave a Comment

If you enjoy using guns for recreational use like We the People Holsters, or are planning on buying your very first gun, it’s important to take the right steps to ensure your safety as well as the safety of those around you.

Gun Safety Tips:

Keep your gun stored in a gun safe:

When you’re not using your guns, they should be stored in a gun safe. In order to avoid having other individuals, such as unsuspecting children, accidentally stumble across your guns. As those who don’t have experience handling guns, should not come into contact with your guns.

Don’t keep a gun loaded:

Never keep your gun loaded when you don’t intend to use it. As you never know who may get hold of your guns, especially if you don’t keep your guns in a gun safe, you should always keep your guns empty. Especially as if a significant amount of time passes from the time which you last use a gun and your next use, you may forget that it’s fully loaded and could end up accidentally shooting your gun. Especially if you have multiple guns and switch out your guns on a regular basis.

Only load your gun’s chamber when you’re ready to shoot:

Ideally the best place to load your gun’s chamber is when you arrive at a shooting range or have spotted prey such as a deer that you plan to shoot.

Always look beyond your target:

Instead of fixating on your target and neglecting to scan your surroundings, you should always look beyond your target, to ensure that it’s safe to shoot your target. As the last thing that you want to do is to accidentally shoot another individual who may be standing in the vicinity of your target. You’d be surprised at the number of hunters, who fire at a wild animal and miss and accidentally hit another unsuspecting hunter. For this reason, make sure that you have a clear shot before you pull your trigger.

Ensure that you have solid footing before you take a shot:

Ensure that you’re standing on solid ground before you take a shot. As you don’t want to stand next to vines which you could trip over or a muddy patch which you could slip into.

Never point your gun in the direction of another person:

Whatever you do, never make the mistake of pointing your gun in the direction of another person. Unless you’re using a gun in order to defend yourself from an armed intruder. As even if you think that your gun is empty, there is always a chance that there is still a bullet in your gun and that you may accidentally shoot an incident person. Which can get you into serious trouble.

So if you already enjoy using guns for recreation or are looking to purchase your first gun, make sure to abide by all of the gun safety tips which have been discussed in the article above. In order to keep yourself, your loved ones and strangers safe.
